Rams claim HOIAC wrestling title for third straight year

The Greene County Rams three-peated as Heart of Iowa wrestling champions at the conference tournament held Jan. 25 in Jewell. That was despite having only nine wrestlers able to compete, leaving five weight classes unfilled.

The Rams finished the day with 168.5 points, followed closely by PCM with 167 points. Other team scores were Gilbert, 161; Saydel, 156.5; Roland-Story, 134; South Hamilton, 125; North Polk, 102; Nevada, 72; CMB, 69; and Colfax-Mingo, 57.

Four Rams were tournament champions– Jacob Challen at 120, Dylan Forkner at 126, Tommy Bradshaw at 138, and Jeremy Scheuermann at 152.

Finishing in second place were Jordan Challen at 132, Abe Yoder at 145, and Daric Whipple at 160. Rene Guzman finished in fifth place at 285 and Hunter Ruth finished in sixth place at 170.

Greene County hosts a dual meet against PCM and Colfax-Mingo Thursday, Jan. 30, at 6 pm at the middle school.
