Eighth grade volleyball vs Roland-Story Sept. 24
The Greene County eighth grade volleyball team traveled to Roland Thursday to play nine games against Roland-Story. The Rams won seven games and lost two. They won the B, C, and D matches.
Game scores were A squad, 13-21, 18-21; B squad, 21-16, 21-10; C squad, 21-12, 21-15, 14-12; and D squad, 21-18, 21-15.
Top servers against Roland-Story were Julia Saul at 7 of 7 with three aces; Harleigh Weir at 39 for 46 with 24 aces; Harjot Dhesian at 11 of 13 with five aces; Sophia Havens at 16 of 19 and three aces; Kylie Roach at 13 of 17 with five aces; and Paige Heaning at 11 of 15 with seven aces. Team serving percentage was 121 for 166, 73 percent, with 59 aces.
“I was very impressed with how hard our entire team worked to run our offense and play together. Sophia Havens and Harleigh Weir continue to be our top setters,” coach Teresa Green said.
Overall games records are A, 10-7; B, 13-3; C, 3-0; and D, 2-0. Overall match records are A, 3-2; B, 5-0; C, 1-0; and D, 1-0.
The next eighth grade match is Monday, Sept. 28, at 4:30 pm at home against Gilbert.
Eighth grade volleyball vs Saydel Sept. 21
The Greene County eighth grade volleyball team hosted Saydel Monday, Sept. 21. The Rams had their best night of serving so far this season and were able to win all eight games. This puts the A squad at 3-1 in matches and 10-5 in games, and the B squad at 4-0 in match and 11-3 in games.
Game scores for the A squad were 21-12, 21-15, 21-9, 21-2. Game scores for the B squad were 21-12, 21-13, 21-16, 13-9.
Top servers against Saydel were Kylie Roach, 33 for 34 for 97 percent with 25 aces; Paige Heaning, 20 for 21 for 95 percent with 16 aces; Harleigh Weir, 23 for 26 for 88 percent with 16 aces; Julia Saul, six for seven for 86 percent with two aces; Sophia Havens, 9 for 11 for 82 percent with three aces; and Abby Kozal, 13 for 16 for 81 percent with 11 aces.
“As a team, we had our best night of serving. We served 126 for 154 for 82 percent and had 85 aces. We are proud of our athletes and how they are learning the offense. Sophia Havens and Harleigh Weir are doing a great job setting for us,” coach Teresa Green said.
The team’s next match is Thursday at Roland-Story.
