Family Storyteller offered by Extension

Early literacy skills are a strong predictor of school success. Parents can help their children get a great start on reading and be prepared for school with Family Storyteller through Greene County Extension & Outreach.

This free, six-week program is offered to preschoolers and their families through funding provided by Community Partnership for Protecting Children. Children have fun with books, receive activities to do at home, learn the value of reading, practice skills, and receive six free books to take home.

Children and parents will meet Mondays and Thursday evenings for three weeks beginning Monday, July 20, at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with a free meal provided by local churches.

Class size is limited and registrations can be made by called Greene County Extension & Outreach at 515-386-2138 by July 16. “Family Storyteller is a wonderful investment in your child’s future,” an Extension spokesperson said.
