RSVP 55+ of Greene County recently received a new Dell laptop computer with a Greene County Community Foundation grant of $800 paying the larger portion of the purchase.
Greene County volunteer coordinator Jackie Souder (left) will use the new computer to share and exchange work with her counterpart in the RSVP 55+ Boone County office. The updated technology will make it easier to track clients, number of visits and volunteer miles driven in RSVP’s grocery assistance program (GAP). GAP pairs volunteer grocery shoppers with homebound seniors who are not able to do their own grocery shoppers, allowing them to eat a better diet and stay in their own homes longer. Also, when there have been relatives dealing with the chore of shopping, the GAP volunteer frees that relative to spend more meaningful time with their senior loved one.
RSVP volunteers will be available to discuss GAP and other volunteer opportunities at the Greene County farmers market in Jefferson Tuesday, July 14.
