The Community Players of Greene County are introducing their audience to William Shakespeare and to staged reading.
Auditions will be held Sundays, May 10 and May 17, at 6 pm at the Masonic Lodge at 120 N. Wilson in Jefferson for a staged reading of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Clay Ross of the Players explains a staged reading as a scaled down version of a play with a small amount of props, sets, and costumes. “We’ll even let you keep your script in your hand during the performance. It’s just a group of people laid back, having fun, working their way through a script.”
The script calls for eight men and eight women of varying ages. Rehearsals will be Sunday evenings during the summer and then twice a week for the last three weeks before the production. The production is slated for Sept. 11-13.
he staged reading will be directed by Josh Tuel and Linda Nichols. For more information, visit the Players’ Facebook page.
