Alliant Energy and the Iowa Department of Natural Resource (DNR) are sponsoring the Operation ReLeaf residential tree program in Jefferson. Operation ReLeaf is a partnership initiative to aid long term energy and natural resource conservation. The program is funded by Alliant Energy and administered by the Greene County conservation board along with the DNR’s Bureau of Forestry.
Alliant customers may purchase one or two trees from a menu of hackberry, sycamore, red oak, bur oak, scarlet oak, serviceberry, edible cherry, redbud, Norway spruce, while pine or flowering crabapple. Cost is $25 each. The shade trees are 5-8 feet tall in 7-10 gallon containers. Conifers and ornamentals are 3-5 feet tall. the trees are non-refundable and under no warranty.
Trees should be ordered and paid for before April 10 at the Greene County Extension office. They will be available for pick-up Saturday, April 18, from 9 to 11 am at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
