Jefferson received nearly 10 inches of snow last weekend in a storm that started Saturday afternoon and continued until Sunday night. Schools were closed Monday as blowing snow hampered efforts to clear roads. The wet, heavy snow started with ice, causing it to cling to trees longer than most snowfalls.
Temperatures were also lower than in recent weeks according to data provided by volunteer weather observer John Beltz. His readings are for thee 24 hours preceding 6 am on the date listed.
