The coming week is one of the two weeks each year Jefferson residents can put “stuff” out on the curb and the city crew, sometimes with help from scavengers and recyclers, makes it disappear. Fall clean-up is slated for Oct. 27-30 in Jefferson.
Pick up will be done in each neighborhood on the regular garbage day. Materials must be separated: metal with metal, wood with wood, garbage with garbage, yard waste, etc. If items are not sorted, they will not be picked up. Scrao metal should be cut into lengths not longer than 5 feet to be picked up at no charge. As always, brush should be stacked in arm load piles with the butt ends facing the stree.
Tires or toxic waste will not be taken.
The first two loads (hoppers) of trash picked up at a property will be free, and no stickers are needed on yard waste bags during clean-up.
Amounts of trash beyond two hoppers will cost $25 per hopper and will be billed to the occupant of the property. Scrap metal and yard waste are separate items and are not counted towards the limits. There will continue to be charges for pickup up appliances and E-waste items.
