After what has seemed like a very long time moving dirt around at the site of the coming Wild Rose Jefferson, walls finally started going up late this week.
Area residents saw in September how quickly prefabricated walls go up as they watched construction of a new Hy-Vee grocery store three blocks north of the bell tower. The casino will likely be the retelling of a very similar story.
When ground was broken for the casino in early July, it was the hope of Wild Rose Entertainment execs to have the casino open sometime next August. The rainy August and September delayed the project, and the most recent “best guess” completion target named by a member of Grow Greene County is now September.
Wild Rose vice president Amy Rubel has quipped, “Tell me how much snow we’re going to get this winter and I’ll tell you when the casino will open.”
