The Greene County Rams were 3-2 in games and 8-5 in sets in the South Hardin tournament in Eldora Sept. 13. The girls won the consolation title in the eight team tournament.
In pool play, the Rams were 1-2 in games and 4-4 in sets. The Rams started with a win over Colo-NESCO 21-11, 21-15 and then lost to two ranked teams. The girls fell to 12-ranked 3A Forest City 21-17, 17-21, 8-15, and then to seven-ranked 1A Grandview Christian (Des Moines) 21-16, 14-16.
The Rams won in the consolation bracket 25-20, 25-16 over Edgewood-Colesburg, and then won in three sets over Gladbrook-Reinbeck 25-16, 17-25, 15-13.
Top hitters for the Rams were senior Stacy Mears with 26 kills, sophomore Nadia Fisher with 19, and senior Kayla Mobley at 18. The Rams served at 91 percent for the day with 30 aces along the way. Senior Mollie Sorber went 43 of 50 with five aces, Mears was 43/46 with four aces, and senior Marissa Promes was 42/46 with four aces. Sorber led in assists with 53 and senior Bailey Godwin had 29 digs ad 42 assists.
