Art and collectible prints by local & Iowa artists, music by Pullin’ Strings
A variety of art by local and Iowa artists of the present and past will be available by silent auction, accompanied by live music and refreshments, Sunday, March 8, from 2 to 4 pm at the Jefferson Community Golf Course clubhouse.
Art on the auction includes a signed and dated original illustration by the late Frank Miller, Pulitzer-prize winning cartoonist for the Des Moines Register; an oil pastel by Hildred Finson and an oil painting by the late Diane Foster, both former art teachers; and paintings by former art teacher Roger Aegerter.
Other illustrations include Brian Duffy original drawn for a Raccoon River Valley Trail fundraiser with a certificate of authenticity, and a limited edition painting by Brian McKelvey titled “Pubs of Iowa City.”
On original oil painting by Chad Elliott, a photograph on canvas of the Mahanay Bell Tower at night by Matt Wetrich, a water color by Susan Smith, and textile art by Jean Van Gilder round out the art auction.
A curated collection of previously-read books, including some with autographs, will also be sold by silent auction.
Bidding will close at 3:45 pm.
The “Pullin’ Strings” duo of harpist Pat Boddy and guitarist David Williamson will provide background music. Light refreshments, including wine, will be served.
“Spring Into Action” is hosted by Greene County Democrats. Proceeds will support scholarships for graduating high school seniors, sponsorship of the Isiserettes in the 2026 Bell Tower Festival parade, and political candidate support.
