Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Saturday, Feb. 28: Routine activity reported.
Friday, Feb. 27: At 9:10 am a deputy investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton. Walker Lynch of Scranton was on State St in a 2020 Ford Fusion. James Stofer of Jefferson was in a 2000 Ford F-150 and backed into Lynch. Stofer left the scene of the accident but was located at home later. He was issued citations for unsafe backing, failure to provide financial liability-accident, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Damage to Lynch’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000. At 2:55 pm a deputy conducted a welfare check in the 600 block of S. 15th St in Grand Junction. A wanted juvenile from Polk County was located and taken into custody.

Wednesday, Feb. 25: At 1:20 am Elijah Fineran, 23, of Denison was booked into the jail on a charge of trespass*. At 4:27 pm a deputy investigated a domestic abuse assault in Scranton. Darren Lehrkamp, 33, of Scranton was arrested for public intoxication, assault causing bodily injury, theft- fifth degree, and false imprisonment*. He was later booked into the jail on the charges. At 7:48 pm a deputy investigated a trespassing complaint in Scranton. Damon Zimpel, 35, of Scranton was arrested for child endangerment, operating while intoxicated- second offense, and driving while license barred*.
Tuesday, Feb. 24: At 4:07 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Churdan. At 5:56 pm a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 1600 block of 320th St in Franklin Township.
Monday, Feb. 23: At 8:51 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle rollover accident on Hwy 4 near 190th St north of Jefferson. Thomas McCan of Creston was northbound when he lost control of a 2008 Ford F150 on some ice and rolled in the ditch. There were no injuries. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000. At 9:04 am a deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle in the 1900 block of Hwy 30 west of Grand Junction. At 9:09 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 1600 block of Hwy 4 south of Jefferson. At 4:11 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity on T Avenue near 240th St in Junction Township. At 7:15 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of North St in Churdan.
Sunday, Feb. 22: At 5:07 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 100 block of Howard St in Rippey. At 6:33 am a deputy investigated a fraudulent use of 911 in the 100 block of Howard St in Rippey. At 9:45 am the sheriff and deputies conducted a search warrant at 104 Howard St in Rippey. Dakota Sheer of Rippey was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, interference with official acts, false report to public safety, harassment of a public official or employee, and obstructing a emergency communication*. She was later booked into the county jail on the charges. At 12:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of Grant St in Rippey. At 2:35 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 1000 block of E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
Saturday, Feb. 21: At 4:36 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near F Ave east of Scranton. Helen Yeager of Coon Rapids struck a garbage bag on the roadway in a 2018 Hyundai. The estimated damage to the vehicle is $1,000. At 5:19 pm Oscar Flores, 36, of Denison was booked into the jail on a charge of driving while license suspended*. At 7:33 pm a deputy investigated a fraudulent use of 911 in the 100 block of Howard St in Rippey.
Friday, Feb. 20: At 8:09 am a deputy assisted a motorist on Hwy 30 near W Ave east of Grand Junction. At 9:12 am a deputy assisted a motorist on Hwy 30 near R Ave east of Jefferson. At 10:38 am a deputy assisted a motorist on Hwy 4 near 250th St south of Jefferson. At 10:15 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in Churdan.
Thursday, Feb. 19: At 5:19 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 170th St near S Ave in in Junction Township. Jennifer Oakes of Collins struck a deer with a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $1,200.
Wednesday, Feb. 18: At 12:43 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of Fitzpatrick St in Churdan. At 10:57 am a deputy investigated a complaint of theft in the 2300 block of 240th St in Junction Township. At 11:05 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 3:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 1000 block of Maple St in Scranton. At 7:16 pm Tiffany McCalley, 53, of Boone was booked into the jail on a charge of violation of probation*.
Tuesday, Feb. 17: At 10:26 am a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 9th and Main Sts in Grand Junction. Conner McDowell of Jefferson was driving a 2024 Mack semi with a grain trailer. McDowell backed up from the stop sign to give another semi room to turn but did not see a 2017 Ford Taurus stopped behind him on 9th St. McDowell struck the vehicle, which is owned by Janice Johnston of Rippey. McDowell was cited for unsafe backing. Damage to the grain trailer was estimated at $500. Damage to Johnston’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000. At 5:28 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 1000 block of 130th St in Highland Township.
Monday, Feb. 16: At 10:12 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton. Charges are pending. 4:24 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton.
Sunday, Feb. 15: At 1:44 pm a deputy and Jefferson fire department responded to a grass fire on the bike trail near Cooper. At 1:50 pm a deputy and Paton fire department responded to a grass fire in the 1600 block of 120th St in Dawson Township. At 3:35 pm a deputy and Churdan fire department responded to a grass fire in the 400 block of E Ave in Cedar Township. At 3:47 pm a deputy and Jefferson fire department responded to a grass fire in the 1800 block of Quest Ave in Grant Township.
Saturday, Feb. 14: At 1:27 pm a deputy and Jefferson fire department responded to a grass fire near Maple St in Cooper. At 9:16 pm Richard Davis, 39, of Spencer was booked in to the jail on a charge of driving while license barred*.
Friday, Feb. 13: At 9:59 am Cullum Corpron, 40, of Nevada was booked into the jail on charges of ongoing criminal conduct, burglary- third degree, criminal mischief- second degree, theft- third degree, and theft- fourth degree*. At 3:25 pm a deputy, Jefferson fire department, and Jamaica fire department responded to a grass fire in the 2400 block of P Ave in Franklin Township. At 7:24 pm a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave in Cedar Township. Charges are pending.
Thursday, Feb. 12: At 2:03 pm a deputy arrested Vincent Nichols, 34, of Jefferson on charges of sex offender registry violation- second offense and sex offender false information in the 200 block of S. West St in Jefferson. He was later booked into the county jail on the charges. At 9:46 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of mail tampering in the 700 block of North St in Churdan.
Wednesday, Feb. 11: At 8:30 am a deputy investigated a sex offender registration violation in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
Tuesday, Feb. 10: At 10:28 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 1200 block of 290th St in Greenbrier Township.
Monday, Feb. 9: At 5:38 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. At 1:38 pm a deputy and Jefferson fire department responded to a grass fire in the 1800 block of 283rd St in Grant Township. At 3:19 pm Shilow Ashby, 55, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- third degree. At 3:53 pm Bradley Tronchetti, 42, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of violation of a no contact order*. At 4:15 pm a deputy, Jefferson fire department and Greene County Ambulance responded to a single-vehicle accident in the 1600 block of 243rd St in Jackson Township. Trevor Williams of Jefferson lost control of a 2008 Toyota Corolla. No one was injured. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000. At 6:23 pm Sean Pollard, 37, homeless was booked into the jail on charges of ongoing criminal conduct, possession of methamphetamine, gathering where controlled substances used, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Sunday, Feb. 8: At 11:51 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 700 block of School St in Churdan.
Saturday, Feb. 7: At 3:30 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of State St in Scranton. At 2:47 pm Derlin Martinez, 31, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of criminal mischief- fourth degree and harassment- third degree*.
Friday, Feb. 6: At 12 pm April Steil, 46, of Des Moines was booked into the jail on charges of theft- fourth degree and failure to appear*. At 5:18 pm a deputy investigated a fight in the 1000 block of E. Railroad St in Grand Junction. At 6:36 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1000 block of E. Railroad St in Grand Junction. At 7:25 pm Brian Newton, 37, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of consuming alcohol in public*. At 7:28 pm Karen Gillman, 61, of Scranton was booked into the jail on a charge of theft- first degree*. At 8:53 pm a deputy arrested Andrew Wempe, 43, of Scranton on a charge of violation of a no contact order*.
Thursday, Feb. 5: At 12:25 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 600 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 4:39 pm Jesse Edwards, 43, of Fort Dodge was booked into the jail for a violation of probation*. At 7:47 pm Kyle Habrich, 37, of Boone was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana- first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Wednesday, Feb. 4: At 7:50 am the Greene County sheriff’s office along with the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a search warrant in the 800 block of Mahlon St in Jefferson. At 10:18 am a deputy investigated an assault that was found to have occurred in Carroll County.

Monday, Feb. 2: At 5:15 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on S Ave near Hwy 30. Brady Pate of Ottosen was southbound on S Ave driving a 2008 Ford F-250 with a trailer. The trailer disconnected from the truck and struck Marc Peterson’s 2016 Chevrolet Suburban. Pate was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Peterson’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000. At 6:43 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 4 near 257th Str south of Jefferson. Sy Koppen of Des Moines struck a deer with a 2022 Kia Sol, causing an estimated $5,000 damage to the vehicle. At 9:43 pm Tyler Kokenge, 44, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for a probation violation*.
Sunday, Feb. 1: At 8:38 pm a deputy responded to the 300 block of S. 11th St. in Grand Junction for a report of criminal mischief.
