Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Saturday, Jan. 31: 6:22 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with responding to an assault in the 100 block of W. Monroe St in Jefferson. At 7:45 am Tythaniel Sinkuler, 36, of Jefferson was booked into the county jail on charges of domestic assault impeding air/blood flow and violation of no contact order*. At 7:24 pm a deputy was advised of cattle out in the 1600 block of U Ave south of Grand Junction.

Friday, Jan. 30: At 8:01 pm deputies were advised of an accident in the 1500 block of 265th St in Grant Township. The driver, Auston Baugh, 40, of Panora was operating a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma was a total loss.
Thursday, Jan. 29: At 4:28 pm Craig Smith, 49, of Jefferson was booked into the county jail on an arrest warrant*.
Wednesday, Jan. 28: At 3:55 am a deputy was advised of a possible fire in the 1100 block of 330th St in Junction Township. The deputy checked the area and was unable to locate a fire. At 6:49 pm Melissa Larson, 47, of Jefferson was booked into the county jail on charges of possession of controlled substance- four counts, unlawful possession prescription medication- four counts, drug tax stamp violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, intent to manufacture or deliver, and child endangerment*.
Tuesday, Jan. 27: At 8:57 am a deputy transported an inmate from the Greene County jail to Oakdale Classification Center. At 9:50 am Christopher Ciesla, 61, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of media exploitation of a minor- five counts*. At 3:40 pm Dakota Ocker, 23, of Ankeny was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- second degree*. At 10:03 pm a deputy was advised of a hit and run accident in the 2100 block of Hwy 30 east of Grand Junction. The deputy made contact with a juvenile who was operating a gray 2016 Toyota and had struck the rear of a white pickup. The pickup driver left the scene. The Toyota Camry sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages. At 10:36 pm Hannah Ladehoff, 23, of Jamaica was booked into the county jail on charges of criminal mischief- second degree (two counts), attempted burglary- 3rd degree (two counts,) theft- third degree (two counts) and theft- fourth degree*.
Monday, Jan. 26: At 7:16 am a juvenile was booked into the jail on charges of assault with intent to inflict serious injury, public intoxication and permit minor use on property- first offense*. At 11:49 am a deputy investigated a complaint of theft in the 600 block of Main St in Scranton. At 6:17 pm a deputy was advised of a dog bite in the 500 block of State St in Scranton. At 10:12 pm a deputy responded to a report of a structure fire in the 2000 block of 305th St in Washington Township. The fire had rekindled from over the weekend.
Thursday, Jan. 22: At 7:21 am a deputy responded to the 800 block of S Ave in Hardin Township for a car-deer accident. Paul Subbert, 50, of Paton was driving a 2012 Jeep Wrangler when he struck a deer. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,500. At 12:11 pm a deputy assisted the Department of Corrections with a welfare check in Churdan. At 9:21 pm Tythaniel Sinkuler, 36, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of assault causing bodily injury*.

Tuesday, Jan. 20: At 10:01 am a deputy transported an inmate from the Greene County jail to Anamosa State Prison. At 1:19 pm deputies performed a traffic stop in the 600 block of Harding St in Churdan. The driver, Michael Hart, 45, of Churdan was arrested for operating while intoxicated*. He was later booked into the jail on the charge.
Monday, Jan. 19: At 2:36 am a deputy picked Raymond Scott Craig, 39, from Anamosa State Prison and transported them back to the Greene County to attend court proceedings. He was booked into the Greene County jail. At 7:25 am a deputy performed a cell phone extraction for the Carroll County sheriff’s office. At 6:56 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a search warrant in the 300 block on N. Wilson Ave in Jefferson. At 10:39 pm a deputy was advised of a person with a warrant on Hager St East in Grand Junction. The deputy searched the area and was unable to locate the person.
Sunday, Jan. 18: At 9:58 pm Max Leyendecker, 35, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for an out-of-county arrest warrant.
Saturday, Jan. 17: At 2:21 pm a deputy investigated a violation of a court order in the 600 block of S Ave in Dawson Township. At 2:39 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 1300 block of Hillcrest Ave in Bristol Township.
Friday, Jan. 16: At 11:58 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 1800 block of 195th St in Grant Township. At 7:24 pm Takyla Pittman, 36, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of driving while license barred*.
Thursday, Jan. 15: At 11:47 am a deputy investigated a scam in the 900 block of Grant St in Scranton. At 3:59 pm a deputy investigated a scam in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton.

Tuesday, Jan. 13: At 9:35 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 200 block of 222nd St in Scranton Township. At 9:49 pm Christopher Lawrence, 45, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of violation of a no contact order*. At 10:43 pm Ashley Jones, 35, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of violation of a no contact order*.
Monday, Jan. 12: At 1:29 pm a deputy conducted tobacco compliance checks around the county. All businesses were complying. At 4:11 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 1800 block of 283rd St in Franklin Township. At 5:51 pm deputies assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office with responding to an assault in Coon Rapids. The suspect was later taken into custody at a residence in Coon Rapids. At 7:01 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Sunday, Jan. 11: At 1:37 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with the arrest of Brandon Kious on a Story County warrant for a probation violation*. He was later booked into the Greene County jail. At 3:18 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 300 block of N. 19th St in Grand Junction. At 4:02 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a search warrant in the 700 block of Pinet Place in Jefferson. At 7:07 pm Leonard Naylor, 64, of Ames was booked into the jail for simulated public intoxication*.
Saturday, Jan. 10: At 8:03 pm Michael Hanlon, 38, of Paton was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- first degree*.
Friday, Jan. 9: At 1:13 pm James Eberle, 32, homeless, was booked into the jail on a charge of contempt of court*. At 5:16 pm Bill Bradshaw, 63, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of violation of a no contact order*. At 10:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton.
Thursday, Jan. 8: At 8:58 am a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 2100 block of 240th St in Junction Township. Travis Smith, 34, of Grand Junction was arrested on an out-of-county arrest warrant for escape. He was later booked into the jail.
Wednesday, Jan 7: At 7:39 am Jason Whitver, 37, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of sex abuse- third degree by force*. At 1:32 pm Christopher Lawrence, 45, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of assault*. At 2:11 pm Jonathan Funcke, 46, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for failure to appear. At 3:26 pm Adrian Kerr, 23, of Kansas was booked into the jail to serve a sentence. At 4:05 pm Duane Forkner, 59, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of assault with bodily injury*. At 8:02 pm Damon Zimpel, 35, of Scranton was booked into the jail on a charge of public intoxication*.
Tuesday, Jan. 6: At 7:33 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 1000 block of U Ave south of Dana. At 3:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 4:43 pm a deputy investigated a hunting violation in the 1000 block of 250th St in Jackson Township. At 6:08 pm a deputy investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 500 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction. At 10:19 pm Zoee Helmentoler, 19, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of assault causing bodily injury*.
Monday, Jan. 5: At 11:57 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1800 block of 265th St in Grant Township. At 3:42 pm Rebecca Chumbley, 42, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia*. At 5:18 pm Fidel Lopez Chavez, 18, of Denison was booked into the jail on a charge of providing a false license or ID card*.
Sunday, Jan. 4: At 6:59 pm a deputy investigated single-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near K Ave west of Jefferson. Lori Morgan of Jefferson struck two coyotes with a 2025 Cadillac XT4. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $8,000.
Saturday, Jan. 3: At 2:13 pm a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer in the 700 block of D Ave in Cedar Township.
Friday, Jan. 2: At 4:29 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 1800 block of Hwy 30 west of Grand Junction. Michael Siemer of Denison struck a deer with a 2024 GMC Yukon, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to the vehicle.
Thursday, Jan. 1: At 9:08 am a deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle in the 500 block of Elizabeth St in Grand Junction. At 10:39 am Rocky Hughes, 46, of Boone was booked into the jail for arrest warrants for ongoing criminal conduct, burglary- third degree, criminal mischief- second degree, theft- third degree, and theft- fourth degree*. All charges are related to burglaries at the Casey’s in Scranton and the Sparky’s in Rippey. At 4:57 pm Roger Ketchum, 37, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for possession of marijuana- first and second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia*. At 9:32 pm Audrie Lawrence, 25, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on charges of possession of marijuana- first and third offense, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance*. At 11:16 pm Karl Krieger, 32, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of driving while license barred*.
