Joanne Rowles, 1934 – 2025

Funeral services for Joanne Rowles, 90, of Grand Junction, will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at First United Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction.  Commissioned Pastor Wendy Pittman will officiate. Joanne’s grandchildren will serve as pall bearers. Interment will be in the Junction Township Cemetery. 

Joanne Rowles was born on Dec. 11, 1934. Her parents were Carl and Iva Ogren. She grew up on a farm near Farlin, along with her siblings, Fred, Duane, Norma, Shirley, and Babe. 

Joanne married Jim Rowles on April 8, 1956. They resided on a farm near Grand Junction where they raised three children, Craig, Roger, and Karen.  

Joanne was very involved in the farming operation. She could drive a tractor as well as anyone. She took great pride in walking beans and getting every weed pulled in a field. Joanne also worked off the farm as a school bus driver. She ran a tight ship and delivered kids safely for many years. 

Joanne loved finishing handmade quilts. She had a meticulous style that made her quilts works of art. She also loved golf and won several trophies in local tournaments. She enjoyed bingo and slots on her weekly trips to the Tama Casino. 

Joanne passed away Nov. 18, 2025 at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings as well as her husband Jim.  She is survived by her children Craig (Beth), Roger, and Karen (Dave) Davis; grandchildren: Matt (Elizabeth), Brian (Kathy), Johnny (Ashlee), Melissa, Carl (Colton), Eric (Victoria), Allen Davis (Bri), and Marc Davis (Lana); and great-grandchildren Max, Murphy, Henry, Savannah, Brooks, Madison, Mason, Landon, Addyson, Lexi, Josephine, and James. 

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Grand Junction Public Library.  Services were arranged by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
