First Ag Coffee Dec. 12 about expanding cow herds

Greene County Extension & Outreach is hosting a series of Ag Coffee events, bringing farmers and other agricultural professionals together for an informal discussion on current Ag topics.

The first Ag Coffee is slated for Friday, Dec. 12, from 9:30 to 11 am at the Greene County Extension & Outreach meeting room. December’s topic will be “Responsible Expansion of the Cow Herd”, presented by Erika Woolfolk, ISU beef specialist. “This session will focus on some considerations for increasing the size of your beef herd. Topics will include nutritional management of yearling and first-calf heifers, breeding strategies for yearling heifers, and buying versus raising replacements. This December meeting is sponsored by Greene County Cattlemen. Persons who want more information can call the Greene County Extension office at 515-386-2138.
