Iowa Central Community College is proud to once again celebrate Native American Heritage Month with the return of the Native American Heritage Festival on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 8:30 am to 1 pm in the Student Resource Center (SRC).
The event will feature a walking gallery filled with Native artifacts, educational displays, videos, and traditional foods, offering students, faculty, staff, and community members a chance to explore and honor the deep history and diverse cultures of Native peoples.
A highlight of the day will be two live dance performances by Larry Yazzie, founder of Native Pride Productions, at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Through music, dance, and storytelling, Yazzie and his group share the beauty and significance of Native traditions, promoting unity, respect, and understanding among all cultures.
The celebration aims to provide an immersive experience that connects education with culture, reminding participants that learning extends far beyond the classroom.
This event is free and open to the public.
