The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle head-on collision that occurred Wednesday, Oct. 29, just south of 320th St on Apple Ave, the Greene-Carroll County line.
According to the ISP report, Robert Edward Everett III, 34, of Coon Rapids was southbound driving 2020 Jeep Compass. For unknown reasons he crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2002 Chrysler Town & Country minivan operating by Curtis John Hofbauer, 41, of Coon Rapids. Everett continued southbound and the vehicle came to rest overturned in the ditch. Hofbauer’s vehicle came to rest overturned in the east ditch.
A passenger in Hofbauer’s vehicle, Curtis John Hofbauer, 76, was taken by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital. The accident report notes he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Both drivers were transported to St Anthony Regional Hospital in Des Moines. The collision remains under investigation.
