Following are excerpts of daily activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Friday, Oct. 31: At 10 am a deputy arrested Melissa Dopheide, 44, of Scranton on an arrest warrant for child endangerment*. She was later booked into the jail. At 5:13 pm a deputy and Churdan Fire responded to a oil spill on Hwy 4 Street near N Ave east of Churdan. At 7:18 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 237th Street near Kirkwood Ave west of Jefferson. Leland Brown of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, causing an estimated $2,500 in damage to the vehicle.

Thursday, Oct. 30: At 2:15 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1000 block of H Ave in Bristol Township. At 4:08 pm a deputy assisted a motorist who picked up a dog near Eaton Avenue and Hwy 30 east of Scranton.
Wednesday, Oct. 29: At 4:01 pm the sheriff and deputies conducted a search warrant at 604 Hill St in Churdan. Two dogs were seized. Charges for animal neglect are pending. At 4:27 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 400 block of Harding St in Churdan. At 4:28 pm the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Carroll Ambulance, Coon Rapids Fire, Churdan Rescue, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle head on accident on A Avenue near 320th St in Willow Township. There were seven persons with suspected injuries. One was transported by LifeFlight with serious injuries; the others were transported by the other ambulances to the St Anthony Hospital with serious to minor injuries. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident. At 6:39 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment complaint in the 900 block of P Ave in Hardin Township. At 8:29 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, Oct. 28: At 7:29 am a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 1 pm Raymond Craig, 38, of Coralville was booked into the jail on charges of theft- second degree and driving while license barred*. At 7:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of S. Wise St in Paton.
Monday, Oct. 27: At 11:36 am Dennis Blum, 75, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of harassment- third degree and disorderly conduct*. At 2:01 pm Gary Sinkuler, 55, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of tattooing without a permit*. At 3:29 pm D’Ambra Knowles, 63, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of animal neglect, three counts*. At 7:48 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 30 near Orchard Ave east of Jefferson. Rick Berg of Ogden struck a deer with a 2020 Kia. The estimated damage to the vehicle is $2,500.
Sunday, Oct. 26: At 6:38 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. At 5:49 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 400 block of Rebecca St in Grand Junction. At 5:54 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, Oct. 25: At 10:06 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. At 3:11 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault on Hwy 30 near E Ave north of Scranton. At 6:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of S. 15th St in Grand Junction.
Friday, Oct. 24: At 1:27 pm a deputy removed an injured deer from the roadway on Hwy 144 near 110th St in Paton Township. At 3:55 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 500 block of S. 9th St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, Oct. 23: At 4:13 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 300 block of S. 14th St in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, Oct. 22: At 8:55 am the sheriff investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 600 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 1:52 pm a deputy investigated an animal-related complaint in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 2:32 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 4 pm a deputy arrested Anthony Arbuckle, 41, of Grand Junction on an arrest warrant for assault*. He was later booked into the jail. At 8:41 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 237th St near Kirkwood Ave west of Jefferson. Justin Towers struck a deer with a 2022 Toyota Sienna. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,500.
Tuesday, Oct. 21: At 5:24 am the Greene County sheriff’s office and the Jefferson Police Department responded to a report of male subject with a firearm in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. Brian Weltzin, 29, of Grand Junction was arrested on charges of carrying weapons, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct. Weltzin also had arrest warrants for criminal mischief- second degree, assault causing bodily injury, operating while intoxicated and driving while license suspended*. Brian Newton, 37, of Grand Junction was also arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance*.
Monday, Oct. 20: At 12:01 am Martin Tolsdorf, 61, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense*. At 1:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog in the 1100 block of D Ave in Kendrick Township. At 4:24 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction.
Sunday, Oct. 19: At 12:52 pm Barbara Pergande, 52, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury*. At 6:12 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out in the 1500 block of 252nd St in Greenbrier Township. At 6:27 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. At 6:54 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out in the 1300 block of R Ave in Grant Township.
Saturday, Oct. 18: At 7:57 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 237th St and Linwood Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 9:04 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1800 block of 315th St in Franklin Township. At 9:53 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on 252nd St and P Ave in Grant Township. At 11:26 am a deputy investigated a driving complaint on U Ave near 230th St south of Grand Junction.
Friday, Oct. 17: At 8 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1500 block of 320th St in Greenbrier Township. At 6:30 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 400 block of Harding St in Churdan.
Thursday, Oct. 16: At 6:26 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 600 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 8:21 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Rippey. At 10:28 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of 3rd St in Rippey.
Wednesday, Oct. 15: At 9:59 am Melanie Smith, 25, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and gathering where controlled substances used*. At 5:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of mail theft in the 400 block of Harding St in Churdan. At 11 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Rippey. Phillip Odin, 51, of Rippey was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury*.
Tuesday, Oct. 14: At 3:15 pm sheriff’s office conducted a search warrant in the 2200 block of Brentwood Ave in Willow Township. Drug paraphernalia with suspected controlled substances were seized. At 7:26 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 290th St near R Ave in Franklin Township.
Monday, Oct. 13: At 9:45 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1200 block of Main St in Scranton. At 4:47 pm a deputy and Jefferson Fire Department responded to a field fire in the 1900 block of L Ave in Jackson Township. At 5:11 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1100 block of Livingston St in Churdan. Alicia Ofelt, 38, of Churdan was arrested on charges of trespass and disorderly conduct*. She was later booked into the county jail.
Sunday, Oct. 12: At 4 pm Alicia Ofelt, 38, of Churdan was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*. At 8:38 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 600 block of Hill St in Churdan.
Saturday, Oct. 11: At 4:17 pm Yerson Salvin, 23, of Waukee was booked into the jail for driving while license barred*. At 5:14 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle rollover accident on 320th St near Apple Ave in Willow Township. A juvenile lost control of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and rolled the vehicle once in the ditch. The driver was not injured. The estimated damage to the vehicle is $8,000.
Friday, Oct. 10: At 12:32 am a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 100 block of Percival St in Rippey. At 10:19 am a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 200 block of S. Wise St in Paton. At 6:35 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 600 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 9 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with a reported fight in the 100 block of Ram Dr.
Thursday, Oct. 9: At 5:44 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 237th St and Deer Run Rd west of Jefferson. Tanner Armstrong of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2017 Ford F150, causing an estimated $1,500 damage to the truck. At 12:01 pm deputies, Greene County Ambulance, Jefferson Fire and Churdan Rescue responded to L Avenue and 150th St in Highland Township for a 76-year-old male trapped under a tractor in the ditch. The male was transported by Greene County Ambulance to the Jefferson Airport where he was transferred to LifeFlight with suspected serious injuries. At 3:52 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 600 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 6:33 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with an arrest in the 500 block of W. State St. Michael Wagoner, 42, of Jefferson was arrested for domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense and obstruction of emergency communication*. He was later booked into the county jail.
Wednesday, Oct. 8: At 7:07 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1100 block of U Ave north of Grand Junction. At 7:12 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 500 block of East Main Street, Grand Junction.
Tuesday, Oct. 7: At 6:42 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 700 block of D Ave in Kendrick Township. Paula Mckeever of Des Moines struck a deer with a 2019 Dodge Caravan. The estimated damage to the van is $8,000. At 5:25 pm a deputy assisted with getting a calf back in the fence on Hwy 4 near 252nd St south of Jefferson.
Monday, Oct. 6: At 9:11 pm Adrian Kerr, 22, of Kansas was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and carrying weapons while intoxicated*.
Sunday, Oct. 5: At 6:21 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 190th St near N Ave in Bristol Township. Stephen Harrell of Cedar Falls struck a deer with a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000. At 9:38 am a deputy assisted with a cow out on 235th St and Parkland Ave in Grant Township. At 1:32 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 800 block of Stanton St in Scranton.
Saturday, Oct. 4: At 5:35 am a deputy and Churdan Fire responded to a combine fire near 160th St and I Ave in Bristol Township. At 11:12 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1800 block of Redwood Ave in Franklin Township. At 1:43 pm a deputy and Paton Fire responded to a grass fire near 130th St and N Ave in Dawson Township. At 11:48 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 and E Ave north of Scranton.
Friday, Oct. 3: At 11:29 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 600 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 6:38 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 9:10 pm Sara Schwery, 48, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense*.
Thursday, Oct. 2: At 3:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 100 block of Green St in Paton. At 7:12 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of burning near 310th St and D Ave in Willow Township. At 7:46 pm a deputy and Scranton Fire responded to a combine fire near 310th St and Brentwood Ave in Willow Township. At 10:14 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
Wednesday, Oct. 1: At 12:06 pm a deputy investigated a vehicle partially in the ditch on Highway 144 near V Ave in Washington Township. Abel Lopez of Jefferson was arrested for operating while intoxicated*. He was later booked into the county jail on the charge. At 1:39 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction. At 3:16 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of stalking in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson. At 6:18 pm Andrew Wempe, 42, of Scranton was booked into the jail on charges of violation of a no contact order and assault causing bodily injury*. At 9:02 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 at W Ave east of Grand Junction. Kyle Demoss of Rippey was westbound on Hwy 30 operating a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. Kayla Frederick of Bagley was following Demoss in a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. When Demoss slowed to turn onto W Ave Frederick failed to slow down and struck the read of his vehicle. There were no injuries or citations. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $15,000.
