The Greenbrier 4-H club celebrated National 4-H Week by filling Christmas shoeboxes at their October meeting. They filled boxes with fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items that will be delivered to children in need around the world. For many children this gift is the first gift they have ever received.
Since 1993, Christmas Shoeboxes, the world’s largest Christmas project of this kind, has collected and delivered more than 232 million shoebox gifts to children in more than 170 countries and territories. This is a yearly favorite community service project of the Greenbrier 4-H’ers. Jentry Hedges said, “This is my favorite meeting of the year.”

Aden Bardole brought the meeting to order reminding the youth about the 4-H signs the club had placed in Paton, Churdan, and Jefferson to celebrate National 4-H Week. New members introduced were Wyat Christensen, Walker Barrett, Jersey Hopkins, Caitlin Hawkins, Logan Gierstorf, and Drayson Zollman. Aden announced that the Greenbrier Family Night will be Sunday, Nov. 2, at 6 pm in Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. RSVP’s need to go to Linda the week before. Initiation of new members and election of officers will be held then.
Presentations were given by Emma and Amber Stephensen on the Indiana Fever basketball team and Nataliya Milakovich on her Angora rabbit. Refreshments were served by Emma and Amber Stephensen and Nataliya Milakovich. Greenbrier’s next meeting will be Family Night.
