The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations has released the name of the individual killed in an officer-involved shooting Sept. 6 near the intersection of Hwy 30 at T Ave west of Grand Junction.
According to the DCI, Camryn Stonehocker, 18, of Boone had led Boone city police and Boone County sheriff’s personnel on a chase that began in Boone County. The Greene County sheriff’s office was called to assist at 10:49 pm.
The pursued driver came to a stop and Stonehocker exited his vehicle armed with a weapon, the DCI press release stated. When Stonehocker advanced on officers, an officer fired his weapon, striking Stonehocker. Stonehocker died at the scene.
The involved officers were not injured. They have been placed on critical incident leave in accordance with their department policy.
After the investigation is completed, findings will be forwarded to the Greene County attorney’s office and the office of the Iowa Attorney General for review.
