Friends of the Library used book sale opens Sept. 12

The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library will host its 33rd annual fall used book sale, from Friday, Sept. 12, through Saturday, Sept. 20, in the library basement.

Friday is a Friends-Only preview sale. Memberships may be purchased now at the library or at the door. There is no set charge for a membership, but patrons are invited to make a donation in an amount of their choosing, ranging from $10 at the “Paperback” level to $100 at the “Bookarazzi” level.  Membership donations will support the efforts of the Friends of the Library.

Starting Saturday, the sale is open to the public free of charge.

The sale features books for all ages, in addition to DVD movies, music CD’s, audio books, board games, and jigsaw puzzles. There is a combination of donated items and those withdrawn from the library collection.

The hours of the sale are regular library hours except the sale will conclude at 6 pm each evening and at 5:30 pm on Fridays.

Bargain Day on Saturday, Sept. 20,is the final day of the sale. Everything will be 50 percent off, or patrons may fill a brown paper grocery bag for $5. Books without a price tag may go in the bag. “Best Books” and items that are individually priced are sold at half price.

Cash, checks, and digital payments will be accepted. The fall sale is the major fundraiser for the Friends of the Library. It’s also the time to renew your annual membership. “Don’t miss this chance to find treasures, support your library, and connect with fellow book lovers,” a spokesperson said.
