Following are excerpts of daily activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Thursday, July 31: At 12:17 am the sheriff and deputy arrested Zachariah Van, 20, of Missouri in the 1700 block of N. Elm St in Jefferson on a charge of public intoxication*. At 4:15 pm Travis Crichton, 46, of Vail was booked into the jail on a charge of a probation violation*. At 7:42 pm a deputy and Scranton Fire responded to a fire alarm in the 600 block of Irving St in Scranton. There was no fire.
Wednesday, July 30: At 12:52 am a deputy assisted a jailer with unruly inmate. At 3:22 am a deputy and Jefferson Fire removed a tree from the roadway on Hwy 4 near 330th St in Greenbrier Township. At 6:51 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 7:06 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 600 block of Dudley St in Churdan. At 9:13 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of Jefferson St in Scranton. At 10:42 pm the sheriff and deputies investigated a domestic assault on 140th St near N Ave east of Churdan. At 11:04 pm the sheriff and deputies assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in the 100 block of N. Maple St, Jefferson. Brandon Turner, 38, of Scranton was arrested for operating while intoxicated*. Turner was later booked into the jail on the charge.
Tuesday, July 29: At 11:56 am Devon King, 29, of Guthrie Center was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance- third offense, controlled substance violation, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of RX drugs*. At 12:21 pm a deputy investigated a reported domestic assault in the 1100 block of Livingston St in Churdan. At 1:37 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of Fitzpatrick St in Churdan. At 5:16 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction. At 7:57 pm a deputy investigated a reported domestic assault in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. At 9:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1100 block of Livingston St in Churdan. Alicia Ofelt, 38, of Van Meter was arrested for three counts of assault on a person in a certain occupation, interference with official acts causing bodily injury, and harassment- first degree*.
Monday, July 28: At 7:04 am the sheriff, a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction Fire responded to a corn crib fire in the 2300 block of 290th St in Washington Township. The fire was started by lightning. There was damage to the peak of the building. At 8:59 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. At 3:30 pm Duane Forkner, 58, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of assault*. At 4:08 pm a deputy arrested Scott Spurgeon of Grand Junction on an arrest warrant for harassment- third degree*. He was booked into the county jail on the charge.
Sunday, July 27: At 8 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief on S. College St near State St in Paton. At 8:28 pm a deputy investigated a fight in the 1100 block of 170th St in Highland Township. At 9:33 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 100 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, July 26: At 11:56 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 4:24 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. At 6:14 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 near S Ave west of Grand Junction. At 6:27 pm a deputy assisted with getting a dog from the 400 block of Head St in Churdan to PAWS. At 9:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. At 9:32 pm a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Friday, July 25: At 11:09 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 800 block of E. Percival Street, Grand Junction. At 3:09 pm Jakob Wolterman, 18, of Paton was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and possession of alcohol under legal age*. At 6:16 pm a deputy investigated a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of 190th St in Kendrick Township. At 7:24 pm Jasper Scheuermann, 37, of Scranton was booked into the jail on a charge of driving while license barred*. At 7:42 pm a deputy arrested Suanne Winters, 54, of Perry in the 400 block of 1st St in Rippey on Guthrie County warrants*. She was later booked into the Greene County jail.

Tuesday, July 22: At 8:20 am the sheriff and deputies responded to a complaint of domestic assault in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave in Cedar Township. At 7:27 pm Devin Holm-Morales, 29, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault and violation of a no contact order*.
Monday, July 21: At 6:07 pm a deputy investigated a hit and run accident on I Ave near 190th St in Bristol Township.
Sunday, July 20: At 12:03 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 near A Ave in Kendrick Township. At 7:05 pm the sheriff and a deputy investigated a fight in the 500 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction. Alexander Duff, 25, of Scranton and Sean Wilson, 37, of Dayton were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct*. Both were later booked into the jail on the charges.
Saturday, July 19: At 8:53 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of S Ave in Dawson Township. At 5:47 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1200 block of 290th St in Greenbrier Township. At 11:33 pm a deputy investigated a missing person report in the 600 block of Hager St in Grand Junction. The person was located.
Friday, July 18: At 4:36 pm Zachary Dearborn, 32, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated*. At 9:05 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fireworks on S. 10th St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, July 17: At 3:29 am a deputy located five people walking near Fitzpatrick St in Churdan. When the deputy attempted to make contact, they fled ther area and were not located. At 3:45 pm a deputy recovered a stolen trailer in the 1100 block of 330th St in Greenbrier Township. At 3:49 pm Jay Orsack, 57, of Churdan was booked into the jail on a charge of criminal mischief- second degree*. At 8:04 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 160th St near K Ave in Bristol Township. At 9:03 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 240th St near G Ave in Jackson Township.
Wednesday, July 16: At 6:15 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. Andrew Martin of Grand Junction struck a coyote with a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage to the vehicle. At 9:10 am Neal Schoon, 62, of Bayard was booked into the jail on a charge of stalking*. At 11:47 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 700 block of S. 9th St in Grand Junction. At 12 pm a deputy assisted with cattle on the railway near 230th St and J Ave west of Jefferson. At 3:57 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of Harding St in Churdan. At 6:17 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 800 block of B Ave in Kendrick Township. At 6:25 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson. At 6:39 pm Daniel Hamous, 50, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance*.
Tuesday, July 15: At 9:55 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of 180 St in Bristol Township. At 4:33 pm a deputy investigated an accident on 230th St and U Ave at Grand Junction. Jennifer Wallace of Scranton was operating a 2025 Jeep Cherokee and was turning west on 230th St from U Ave. Kyann Brown of Jefferson was operating a 2005 Toyota Camry and stopped as posted on 230th St near U Ave. Wallace cut the corner and struck Brown’s vehicle. Damage to Wallace’s vehicle was estimated at $400. Damage to Brown’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000. At 5:01 pm a deputy investigated a theft on S.13th St near Elizabeth St in Grand Junction. At 5:35 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. At 10:25 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton.
Monday, July 14: At 2:56 pm a deputy investigated a report of suspicious activity in the 1800 block of Redwood Ave in Grant Township. At 5:46 pm a deputy investigated complaint of harassment in the 700 block of E. Railroad St in Grand Junction.
Sunday, July 13: At 4:31 am Travis Heinz, 32, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of driving while license suspended, vIolation of a no contact order, and domestic abuse assault- serious*. At 9:35 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on U Ave near 200th St north of Grand Junction. John Sweeny of Carroll was driving a 2021 Toyota Sienna and struck a deer. The estimated damage to vehicle was $10,000. At 8:11 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 600 block of Sand St in Churdan.
Saturday, July 12: At 12:05 pm Larissa Beaty, 42, of Ankeny was booked into the jail for a violation of probation.* At 4:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. At 5:23 pm a deputy investigated an accident in the 1000 block of N Hwy 4 north of Jefferson. Craig Flack of Jefferson was turning into his driveway in a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado with a trailer with a lawn mower on it. Flack’s trailer was struck by Carl Berglund of Dayton who was driving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Berglund was cited for failure to stop in the assured clear distance. Damage to his vehicle exceeded value. Damage to Flack’s trailer was estimated $1,000 dollars damage and damage to the mower, which rolled into the ditch, was estimated at $15,000. At 5:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 1800 block of Redwood Ave in Grant Township.
Friday, July 11: At 10:33 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 600 block of S. 15th St, Grand Junction.
Thursday, July 10: At 10:43 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 1100 block of Livingston St, Churdan.
Wednesday, July 9: At 4:02 pm the Greene County sheriff’s office conducted a search warrant at 13162 Bittersweet Rd, Woodward. The Dallas County sheriff’s office assisted with the search warrant. A stolen vehicle, stolen property, and suspected controlled substances were seized. Cody Roth, 37, of Woodward and David Lehman, 48, of Des Moines were arrested for burglary- third degree and theft- first degree for crimes committed in Greene County*. At 4:52 pm a deputy responded to a reported train engine on fire near Kirkwood Ave west of Jefferson. When the train stopped the fire was extinguished by Union Pacific personnel. At 6:05 pm a deputy arrested Brett Roberts, 32, of Grand Junction for driving while license barred*. At 9:39 pm Cody Roth, 37, of Woodward was booked into the jail on charges of burglary- third degree and theft- first degree*. At 10:13 pm David Lehman, 48, of Des Moines was booked into the jail on charges of burglary- third degree and theft- first degree*. At 11:14 pm Christina King, 48, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for an out-of-county arrest warrant*.
Tuesday, July 8: At 8:30 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave in Cedar Township. At 4:06 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near 11th St in Grand Junction. A juvenile was westbound on Hwy 30 and struck a buckled portion of the roadway, causing an estimated $4,000 damage to the 1989 Honda Civic. At 8:44 pm Jacob Day, 35, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of violation of a no contact order* . At 10:04 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 2200 block of M Ave in Greenbrier Township.
Monday, July 7: At 1:49 am a deputy assisted the Webster County sheriff’s office with a pursuit near Paton. The vehicle was lost near Paton. At 5:01 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on U Ave near 217th St north of Grand Junction. At 6:53 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass on U Ave near 150th St east of Paton. At 3:26 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of identity theft in the 600 block of S. 15th St in Grand Junction. At 8:45 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of Hill St in Churdan. At 9:26 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1000 block of Sandoe St in Grand Junction. At 10:43 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on U Avenue near 200th St north of Grand Junction.
Sunday, July 6: At 1:35 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD in responding to a reported domestic assault in the 600 block of W. Adams St. At 10:21 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fireworks at 16th and Sandoe Sts in Grand Junction.
Saturday, July 5: At 10:53 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 100 block of Howard St in Rippey. At 10 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on J Ave near 230th St in Jackson Township. At 10:40 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fireworks in the 300 block of N. 1st St in Rippey.
Friday, July 4: At 8:59 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave in Cedar Township. At 11:58 pm Duane Johnson, 67, of Dawson was booked into the jail on a charge of driving while license revoked*.
Thursday, July 3: At 6:10 pm Melissa Hefler, 50, of Ames was booked into the jail for a violation of probation*. At 10:41 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 230th St near Q Ave east of Jefferson. At 11 pm Flavio Cocuyo, 28, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, domestic abuse assault, and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Wednesday, July 2: At 3:07 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 600 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 10:04 pm a deputy investigated an animal complaint on Hwy 30 near 9th St in Grand Junction. At 11 pm Flavio Cocuyo, 28, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, domestic abuse assault, and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Tuesday, July 1: At 1:53 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on the roadway in the 1400 block of J Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 3:45 pm the sheriff and deputies, Iowa State Patrol, Scranton Fire, Bayard Fire, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a car vs tractor accident in the 2300 block of Hwy 25 in Willow Township. Michael Dahl, 64, of Scranton was southbound operating a tractor. Neal Schoon, 62, of Bayard was also southbound on Hwy 25. Schoon rearended the tractor, causing it to roll into the west ditch. Schoon’s car stayed on the roadway. Dahl was pronounced dead at the scene. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident. At 9:19 pm the Greene County sheriff’s office assisted Boone County with a reported shots fire call near B Ave and 210th S in Boone County.
