A Scranton man was killed when the tractor he was driving was rear-ended on Highway 25.
According to the Iowa State Patrol accident report, Michael Thomas Dahl, 63, of Scranton was operating a 1969 Farmall tractor southbound on Highway 25, just south of 320th St. Neal Schoon, 62, of Bayard, was also southbound, driving a 1989 Mercury passenger car. Schoon struck the rear of the tractor, pushing it into the west ditch. Dahl fell from the tractor and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Schoon came to rest in the center of the roadway.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Also responding to the scene were the Greene County sheriff’s office, Greene County Ambulance, Scranton Fire and Bayard Fire.
