Area residents are invited to join outdoor experts and Iowa PBS on Saturday, July 26, from 9 am to – 12 pm for a morning adventure with Greene County Conservation. At this special one-day outdoor event, attendees will learn more about nature photography while identifying unique natural phenomena.
Beginning at 9 am, attendees will gather at the Eastside Shelter at Spring Lake Park in west of Grand Junction to begin a guided tour. Bring along your camera or phone, as we will offer valuable tips and tricks to help improve your own amateur nature photography skills. The images you capture may be used in our Iowa Science Phenomena collection.
No registration or experience is required. This free opportunity is for community members of all ages. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and the environment. Learn more at iowapbs.org/events.
Iowa Science Phenomena emphasizes the identification and publication of Iowa-specific phenomena, particularly those that represent locally relevant or unique concepts, and connects them with Iowa Core science standards. The project features a growing collection of media-based phenomena, including short video clips, images and links to public datasets. Phenomena are each developed, aligned and vetted by Iowa teachers, and include teacher support materials with guidance on phenomena-based best practices.
In addition to our statewide broadcasts, Iowa PBS, WORLD and Create are available to livestream on iowapbs.org/live, pbs.org/livestream, and the PBS app. Iowa PBS KIDS is available to livestream on iowapbs.org/live or the PBS KIDS app. Iowa PBS programs are also available on most popular platforms.
