In Greene County district court judgments were entered in a pair of cases against Devin William Holm Morales, 29, of Jefferson. In the first he was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. All but 10 days of the jail time was suspended, with the term consecutive to terms in five other Greene County cases. He was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. he must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program and complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge, a $90 domestic abuse surcharge, victim restitution yet to be determined, and $598.80 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $100 in that case.
In the second case he was sentenced to one year in jail will all but two days suspended after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Judge McCarville also entered judgment in a magistrate case in which Holm Morales was charged with violation of a no contact order. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all but seven days suspended. Those days are also consecutive to the terms in the above cases. He must pay victim restitution to be determined and $60 court costs.
Alicia Anne Marie Arnajallum, 38, of Churdan was sentenced to seven days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license revoked. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Department of Correctional Services for one year. She was fined $1,000 with a $150 surcharge. Ashley Marie Spaulding, 28, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of accessory after the fact. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must pay an $855 civil penalty, restitution not to exceed $300 for her court appointed attorney’s fees, and $1,000 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Latoya Lynn Preston, 48, of Fort Dodge was fined $1,000 with a $150 surcharge after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. Ethan Thomas Frye, 25, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. Anthony Vernell Crawford, 60, of Churdan was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year and he must perform 100 hours of community service. Hether J. Dobney, 39, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 180 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must complete all recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation and complete a drinking drivers course. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour drinking drivers course in lieu of the jail time. Dobney was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $136.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)
