World-wide good news, in fact
~a column by Colleen O’Brien
Australia’s influential labor party leader Anthony Albanese (known as Albo) won an almost 100 percent victory over his right wing adversary for a second term as Prime Minister of Australia on May 3.
In his acceptance speech, he was happy to credit his winning to Donald J. Trump. For it is Trump’s authoritarian behavior, negativeness and, oh yes, his tariffs, which swung the entire voting public of Australia to the left.
All citizens of Australia at 18 are required to enroll as voters and thereafter to vote in federal elections, by-elections and referendums. If you’re interested in a glimpse of joyous voting, take a look at CNN for delightful coverage of beachgoers strolling over to the voting booths on the boardwalks, in their bikinis and Speedos, to vote.
The Australian media also talks about other countries lessening their time and their interest in America and its pretend-king-like person who never shuts up; other nations are shying away from the disturbance and threat of the U.S. and its leader; it is a natural backlash to grift, greed and a leader thinking too highly of himself.
Canada recently voted left for its new Prime Minister Mark Carney; and Mexico overwhelmingly elected Claudia Sheinbaum, who in her first year as president, has operated in a faithful defiance of Trump and her even more faithful ignoring of him. She said on May 5 that she doesn’t want her communication with U.S. President Donald Trump to become an exchange of statements in the press. This is a wise decision because he’s apt to say anything, most often untrue.
I don’t want any other news today, especially coming from us, because U.S. political news is invariably unwelcome news these days. Have a good one.
