GrCo libraries to present program Rosie the Riveters of Iowa

Iowa author Linda Betsinger McCann will speak about her newest book, “Rosie the Riveters of Iowa,” Tuesday, April 29 at 2 pm at the VFW building on the east side of the downtown square in Jefferson. 

McCann is a native Iowan and lives in Shell Rock. She has done extensive research and written several books about Iowa history and will be in the area for three days presenting programs about her books and research. The programs are free and everyone is invited to attend.

McCann’s program in Jefferson is sponsored by the Greene County Librarians Association and the Greene County board of supervisors, in partnership with Jefferson VFW Post 9599 and American Legion Post 11.

McCann will give several programs while she is in the area:

Monday, April 28 – 11 am, Rippey public library, program on the Civilian Conservation Corps; and 6 pm, Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton, program on Prohibition.

Tuesday April 29 – 2 pm, Jefferson public library at the Jefferson VFW hall, program on Rosies of Iowa; 5:30 pm, Carroll public library, program on Rosies of Iowa

Wednesday April 30 – 2 pm, Manning public library, program on Lost Towns of Iowa.

The author will have copies of all her books for sale at each of her programs. The books are $20 each and she can only take cash or checks.  McCann is donating one book at each of her programs for a door prize, and the person must be in attendance to win.
