In Greene County district court Rahni Rexann Brower, 41, of Carroll was granted a deferred judgment April 15 after she changed her plea to guilty to one county of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for three years. She must pay a $1,000 civil penalty. One count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drug were dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Kurt J. Stoebe)
Melanie Marie Smith, 25, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of accessory to a felony after the fact. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must pay an $855 civil penalty, restitution for her court appointed attorney not to exceed $500, and $10 court costs. Christopher Craig Edwards, 43, of Carroll was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and he must perform 100 hours of community service. Brooklyn Ruby Renshaw, 19, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment, and she must complete a community college drinking drivers school at her own expense. Hayden Fister, 19, of Des Moines was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff for two years, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Fister must pay a $100 civil penalty and $100 court costs. A charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Joseph Edward Blackmon, 49, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to unauthorized use of credit less than $1,500. The prison term is concurrent to the term in another Greene County case. Blackmon was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Court costs were $49.50. A charge in magistrate court in which Blackmon was charged with theft- fifth degree was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges in district court as follows: Johnathan Henry Bohling, 45, of Hubbard, driving while license barred; Ethan Thomas Frye, 26, of Grand Junction, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; and Hether J. Dobney, 39, of Grand Junction, operating while intoxicated. Trial dates were set for June 17 for Bohling and Frye, and for May 13 for Dobney.
