With the season started for the Greene County Ra boys track and field team, they were scheduled for another meet this week.
A quick recap shows the Rams boys are off to a great start this year: in their first action, at the A.D. Dickinson Relays Drew Wolterman ran a school record for the 800-meter indoor run of 2:06.68, a good start to the track and field season. Outside of that performance, the team had a number of other solid performances from Ram runners.
This week, the Ram boys were scheduled to head to Bill Buxton Stadium at Simpson College in Indianola for the Simpson Co-Ed High School Classic on Tuesday, which had a start time of 4 pm.
A closer look at the roster for the boys showcases the leadership present on the team as there are 12 seniors on the squad: Gabe Block, Kaiden Burbank, Isaac Carman, Crew Conner, Lane Fields, Patrick Graham, Noah Hinote, Camden Jacobs, Kamden Kinne, Nick Stream, Hayden Sutherland and Gavyn Winters. These athletes will look to use their leadership and experience to help out the team this year.
There is plenty of youth on the roster as well with 11 sophomores and three freshman who will gain valuable experience this season and will use that to be the building blocks of the future program. After the Simpson co-ed meet this week, the Ram boys will turn their attention to the Earlham Early Bird meet on April 1, which will truly kickoff the season as they will have their end goal of making the Class 2A State Meet later this year in May.
