Off and running is the best way to describe the season for the Greene County Rams girls’ track team.

The girls started off their season at the A.D. Dickinson Relays March 11 at the University of Northern Iowa. In an extremely packed field, this meet is a great way for the team to get their feet under them at the start of the year.

In the events, Makenna Ebersole placed 134th in the 200 meter with a time of 30.64, Sara Morlan placed 153rd with a time of 31.07 and Calleigh Fitzpatrick placed 204th with a time of 33.39.

Kaycee Pittman placed 45th in the 400 meter with a time of 1:05.61 and Payton Kokenge placed 149th with a time of 1:13.41. Greene County placed 43rd in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:58.39 and 31st in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:36.85.

Kokenge placed 32nd in the high jump with a jump of 4’8” and Fitzpatrick placed 72nd with a jump of 4’2”. Emma Ewalt placed 57th in the shot put with a throw of 30’07”

The girls also attended with IATC Indoor Championships March 14 at Iowa State University. Kaycee Pittman place 14th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.81. Pittman also placed 15th in the 800 meter with a time of 2:35.79 and Hailey Carman placed 29th with a time of 2:55.38.

Greene County placed 18th in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:33.80; Kokenge placed 15th in the high jump with a 4’9; and Lila Osterson placed 25th with a 4’05”. Daniele Madsen placed 7th in the shot put with a throw of 35’03” and Ewalt placed 13th with a 33’05.25”. There is going to be a bit of a lull in the action as the girls have some time off before their next meet as the Simpson Co-Ed High School Classic at Bill Buxton Stadium in Indianola on March 25;  and then the Earlham Early Bird meet will follow on April 1.
