Soccer season still two weeks away

Mother Nature hasn’t quite figured out what season it wants to be yet, which is good for our Greene County soccer players as their seasons haven’t started yet.

The seasons for the Rams girls’ and boys’ soccer teams doesn’t officially begin until March 31 against Grand View Christian for both squads.

For the girls, they finished last year with an overall record of 0-12 and fell in their only match against Grand View Christian 6-0. The team also graduated their only player with goals last season in Esther Van Horn. Wes Anderson will be head coach, moving from the assistant position the past two season.

The Ram boys had a phenomenal season last year with an overall record of 11-3 and making it all the way to the Class 2A-7 Semifinal where they lost a close one to Humboldt by a score of 2-1. They did however graduate their top three goal scorers from the team last year in Gesser Gutierres who had 49, Nathan Behne who had 20 and Jack Hansen who had four. Long time assistant coach Chad Black has moved into the head coach position for the boys.
