First Baptist Church of Jefferson will present the first in a series of hourlong community conversations entitled “Parens Patriae: The parenthood of the state” on Thursday, March 27, at 5 pm. Rev. Daniel Cunningham of First Baptist Church will moderate a discussion about the pros and cons of the intervention powers of the State within the home and in the community. Examples of parens patriae will be provided during the program to guide the conversation.
Rev. Cunningham holds a Master of Bioethics and Health Policy degree from Loyola University-Chicago and has had numerous interactions within healthcare facilities regarding parens patriae matters for the young and old.
The public is encouraged to attend this community conversation surrounding a power of government that is notably obscure yet of imperative consequence. First Baptist Church is located at 104 W Central Ave. Refreshments will be provided.
