The Greene County Rams boys basketball dropped two games in Heart of Iowa Conference play last week, scoring well below their 38-point average in both games.

The Rams boys faced the Nevada Cubs Jan. 28, which resulted in a 71-24 loss for the Rams. The Rams faced the Roland-Story Norsemen to finish their week, which resulted in a 55-22 loss for the Rams.

In their game against Nevada, the Cubs jumped out to an early lead as they led 23-9 heading into the second quarter. It was more of the same from then on out as the Rams were outscored 14-3 in the second, 19-2 in the third and 15-10 in the fourth.

Nick Madsen led the team in both points with 10 and rebounds with six. Rafe Michaelsen was second on the team in rebounding with five, Nathan Towers had four and Teagan Chisholm had three. Broc Stream was the team’s second leading scorer with six points and Isaac Carman had five points.

The Rams wrapped up their week against Roland-Story who used balanced scoring to get the win over the Rams. The Rams scored six points in the first, eight in the second, two in the third and six in the fourth while the Norsemen scored double-digit points in each quarter.

Adam Bills led the team in scoring with six points, Camden Jacobs had five points, Isaac Carman had three and Nathan Towers, Rafe Michaelsen, Nick Madsen and Lincoln Schwander all had two points apiece. Chisholm led the team in rebounds with four, and Michaelsen, Carman and Camden Jacobs were tied for second with three apiece.

The Rams have just a few games left on the calendar this year for the regular season as they were expected to face Saydel on Tuesday and West Marshall on Friday.

The Rams will close out the regular season against Southeast Valley on Feb. 10 and South Hamilton on Feb. 11.

After that, sports fans know that anything can happen in postseason play and sometimes it is all about who gets to playing well at the right time during the season.
