Public Health offering Brain Help & Hope dementia prevention class

The World Health Organization reports that dementia is the leading cause of disability and  dependence among older people and the seventh leading cause of death. Although there is currently no cure for,  there are ways persons can reduce their risk.

“There are 10 “key” areas where we can work to reduce dementia risk by as much as 70 percent,” explained  Greene County Public Health director Shelby Cooklin. “We are pleased to be able to offer a comprehensive, 10- week course that educates attendees about how simple adjustments to their diet, sleep patterns, socialization, and  exercise plans, to name a few, can not only help them feel better, but prevent the onset of dementia.” Attendees connect with local experts to work on evaluating these risks and incorporating lifestyle changes to optimize brain  health.

Registration is now open for the Brain Help & Hope KEYS to Dementia Prevention courses, scheduled to take  place each Tuesday from March 4 through May 6.
