In Greene County district court Melanie Marie Smith, 25, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty Jan. 28 to a charge of accessory after the fact. A trial date was set for April 8.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Richard Dean Sucher, 57, of Perry has been charged with gambling- avoid set-off and fraudulent practice- second degree. The warrant was issued Dec. 3 and returned Jan. 24. Also, Valeria L. Beaston, 54, of Ames is charged with gambling- avoid set-off. The warrant was issued Nov. 13 and returned Jan. 13.
Cases were initiated during the week ending Jan. 31 as follows: Lonnie Joe Walker Jr, 46, of Carroll, operating while intoxicated- second offense and child endangerment; and Latoya Lynn Preston, 48, of Fort Dodge, driving while license barred.
