Carole Custer, chair of the Bell Tower of Fame Award selection committee, has announced a Friday, Feb. 14 deadline for submission of nominations for consideration for this year’s award.
The selection committee is comprised of past Bell Tower Festival chairs. The award is presented at opening ceremonies of the annual Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson in June.
The award was created in the festival’s infancy to show Greene County pride for people who had or have made Greene County their home at some point in their lives. The successful winner/s need to have international, national or statewide professional or personal accomplishments.
Custer said nominations need to be submitted on an official form either online, by mail, or in person. The form and details on how to submit nominations are at https://jeffersonmatters.org/bell-tower-of-fame-award-nomination-form/ Printed forms are available at the Welcome Center at Thomas Jefferson Gardens, 201 E. Lincoln Way, Jefferson, IA 50129. Submitted nominations are considered for seven years, so nominations can be updated anytime during that time.
Past winners include award-winning journalists, leaders in national security, agriculture, space travel, international sports, academia, national business associations, economic development and more.
