Greene County sheriff’s report

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Thursday, Jan. 16: At 11 am Mychael Mueller, 35, of Fort Dodge was booked into the jail for a violation of probation*. At 12:42 pm a deputy arrested Leeroy Steadman, 23, of Grand Junction on a charge of sex abuse- third degree*.  At 6:21 pm a deputy, Scranton fire, and Greene County Ambulance responded a garage fire in the 500 block of Main St in Scranton. There was minor damage to the garage and a vehicle.

Wednesday, Jan. 15: At 11 am Dale Spaulding, 56, of Scranton was booked into the jail on charges of violation of a no contact order, violation of probation, and harassment- third degree*. At 4:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of assaults that happened in several locations around Greene County.

Tuesday, Jan. 14: At 11:43 am a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 600 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 12:48 pm Tiffany McCalley, 52, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail for failure to appear*.

Monday, Jan. 13: No calls for service.

Sunday, Jan. 12: At 11:44 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 600 block of Kendrick St. At 1:43 pm Darrien Peterson, 18, of Churdan was booked into the jail on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and carrying weapons while ineligible*.

Saturday, Jan. 11: At 7:33 pm a deputy assisted with a cow out in the 1800 block of 235th St east of Jefferson. At 10:03 pm Luis Medina Cruz, 26, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury*.

Friday, Jan. 10: At 7:33 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of Jay St in Churdan.

Thursday, Jan. 9: At 4:17 am Nicole Huss, 37, of Newton was booked into the jail on a charge of operation without an ignition interlock device.* At 2:26 pm a deputy, Jefferson PD, and the Jefferson fire department responded to a large gas leak in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St, Jefferson.  At 8:14 pm a deputy assisted with a unruly parent at a basketball game in the 600 block of Adrian St in Churdan.

Wednesday, Jan. 8: At 2:50 pm Amy Yager, 32, of Coon Rapids was booked into the jail on a charge of failure to stop in safe and sure distance*. At 7:12 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 235th St and Parkland Ave east of Jefferson.

Tuesday, Jan. 7: At 6:10 am the sheriff and deputies assisted by the Jefferson PD and the Internet Crimes against Children task force conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of S. Oak St, Jefferson, for suspected possession of child pornography. Electronic storage devices were seized. Charges are pending completion of lab results.

Monday. Jan. 6: Routine activity reported.

Sunday, Jan. 5: At 1:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious animal in the 800 block of E. Sandoe St in Grand Junction.

Saturday, Jan. 4: At 3:25 am Jeremy Andrews, 36, of Scranton was booked into the jail on a charge of driving while license barred*.

Friday, Jan. 3: At 7:53 am a deputy assisted with a cow out in the 1700 block of 222nd St west of Jefferson.

Thursday, Jan. 2: At 6:41 am a deputy investigated a single vehicle in the ditch due to road conditions. At 7:16 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck on 235th St and Quint Ave in Junction Township. At 8:11 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck at the same location. At 8:47 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck on Hwy 4 near 190th St north of Jefferson. At 9:22 am a deputy assisted a motorist stuck in the 1100 block of N Ave north of Jefferson. At 9:32 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 10:04 am a deputy investigated a gas drive-off at the Paton Pit Stop.

Wednesday, Jan. 1: At 4:15 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident in the 700 block of L Ave in Bristol Township. Stephanie Bailey of Churdan lost control of a 2008 Honda Civic, rolling into the ditch and striking a fence. The driver was transported by Greene County Ambulance with minor injuries. The vehicle was a total loss. At 4:24 pm a deputy investigated a hunting violation in the 1400 block of Jordan Ave in Jackson Township. At 4:47 pm Christopher Gilliland, 27, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault*.

*In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
