Home State Bank in Jefferson reflects on its inception as staff celebrated its milestone 90th anniversary during its December holiday open house with customers.
On October 1, 1934, M.E. Brunner, Warren Garst, E.A. Milligan, C.B. Fletcher, Chester Oppenheimer, and O.W. Harris opened the original location on the west side of the square with $50,000 in capital and the goal to be the best community-driven bank.
Home State Bank has shown remarkable perseverance in navigating economic challenges and has maintained its presence over time. We are proud to stand alongside CSB in Paton, as one of only two banks established and operating in Greene County.
Rooted in humble beginnings and built on customer and community-first service, Home State Bank has grown to $40MM in capital and approximately $435MM in total assets. It employs 47 people between its Jefferson and Polk City locations, many of whom have ties directly to Greene County.
“Home State Bank has served our communities of Greene County for several generations. The prior generations of employees, customers, and board members were foundational to developing Home State Bank into the strong community bank that it is today. We are grateful to have the opportunity to serve our customers and communities and we are all very proud to be a part of this team and the next generation at Home State Bank. Let’s enjoy this journey together as we celebrate the past and look to the future!”, states Bank President & CEO, Bob Allen. ~provided by Home State Bank
