In Greene County district court Samantha Jo Bergemann, 39, of Jefferson was sentenced Dec. 30 to 180 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at her own expense, and she must complete a drinking drivers course. She was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. She must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Eric Nathan Ranker Jr, 20, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 36, of Jefferson driving while license barred; Francisco Jesus Ordaz, 25, of Marshalltown, possession of marijuana; Andrew Vernon Wempe, 42, of Scranton, possession of methamphetamine; and Brooklyn Ruby Renshaw, 18, of Scranton, possession of marijuana. Trial dates were set for March 4 for Ranker, Andrews and Ordaz, and for April 5 for Wempe and Renshaw.
