Greene County district court, week ending Dec. 20

In Greene County district court Jon Michael Kurth, 40, of Ankeny was granted a deferred judgment Dec. 18 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for two years. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at his own expense. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty. He must also pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $246.42 court costs. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. A related charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was also dismissed. (Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Gary Eugene Grundon, 61, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 90 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at his own expense. He was fined $315 with a $47.25 surcharge. He must pay restitution not to exceed $177 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Kyus Scott Shineflew, 27 of Jefferson was sentenced to 10 days in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Dec. 20 as follows: Michee Chinyama, 29, of Ankeny, driving while license barred; Shera Dean Anderson, 31, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine; Audrie Leiann Lawrence, 24 of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Christopher Craig Edwards, 43, of Carroll, driving while license barred; and Nolan Roger Wilson, 25, of Grand Junction, murder- first degree and child endangerment causing death, and in a separate case, domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow causing bodily injury.
