Greene County district court, week ending Dec. 6

In Greene County district court William Joseph Weis, 51, of Council Bluffs was sentenced to 10 days in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. He must pay $400 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $236.50 court costs. Joshua David Paddock, 36, of Des Moines was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with credit for time served, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense, amended from possession of marijuana- third offense. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations. Paddock was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. A charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Carlos Ricardo Gonzales, 49, of Dayton was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. All but 10 days of the jail term was suspended; those days are consecutive to the jail sentence in another Greene County case, with credit for time served. He was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. Gonzales was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay an amount not to exceed $300 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were not listed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

William Poio, 50, of Jefferson was sentenced to four days in jail with time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license revoked. He was fined $1,000 with a $150 surcharge. Court costs were not listed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Antonio Lamar Deshaunte Hatcher, 24, of Detroit, MI, pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. A trial date was set for March 4. Beau Robert Davis, 28, of Grand Junction pleaded not guilty to charges of operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. A trial date was set for Jan. 28.

Cases were initiated as follows: Aristides Iban De Paz Paz, 43, of Perry, operating while intoxicated; and Cheyenne Selena Vazquez, 27, of Ankeny, operating while intoxicated.
