Greene County district court, week ending Nov. 15

In County district court Phillip Dean Amos, 51, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 12 to 10 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of delivery or possession with intent to deliver 5 g. or less of methamphetamine. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone. Amos was fined $1,000 with a $150 surcharge. Charges of unlawful possession of a prescription drug and keeping a vehicle or premises for controlled substance violation were dismissed. Court costs were $387.50. A related charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Court costs were $128.35 in that case. (Sentencing: Honorable Angela L. Doyle)

Mark Moore, 60, of Dayton was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must complete a drinking drivers course. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail on a charge of possession of marijuana. The sentence was suspended. If the sentences are served they will be consecutive. Moore was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge on the marijuana charge. Court costs were $100. Robin Ann Tague, 38, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year and she must perform 40 hours of community service. She must pay a $105 civil penalty and $100 court costs. Bryan Douglas Woodward, 61, of Palo was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty on a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/County Probation for one year. He may complete the DMACC 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Alysha Marie Oravetz, 44, of Washington is charged with theft- third degree. According to court documents, while working as the librarian in Paton Oravetz used a city credit card for personal expenses. A warrant for her arrest was issued in April 2020 and was served in Washington County Oct. 21, 2024.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Nov. 15 as follows: Kenney Allen Cathers, 61, operating while intoxicated; Antonio Lamar Deshaunte Hatcher, 24, of Detroit, MI, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Sawyer Michael Nelson, 20, of West Point, possess pistol or revolver under age 21.
