In Greene County district court Truemon Glenn Phillips, 54, of Albia was sentenced Oct. 29 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. in lieu of the jail time he may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program at his own expense. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also complete a drinking drivers course. Phillips was fined $1,25 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must pay an amount not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $200 court costs. In a related case in magistrate court, Phillips was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Court costs were $134.36 court costs. Brandon Duong, 35, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 28 to a term not to exceed five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of violation of a custodial order- relative. The prison sentence is consecutive to a sentence in a Woodbury County case. Duong was fined $1025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. A charge of kidnapping- second degree armed with dangerous weapon was dismissed. (Honorable Angela L. Doyle)
Teresa Marie Rivera, 35, of Jefferson was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct, amended from attempted burglary- second degree. She must pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s costs. Court costs were not listed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Aiden Randall Steger, 18, of Carroll was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $430 civil penalty, an amount not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
