October 2024
Greene county has a choice. On November 5th, you can vote your choice between an honest man, Shane Monthei, and our current sheriff, Jack Williams.
On July 25th, 2022, Mr Williams facilitated the criminal removal of three tidy steel racks containing $20,000 of new steel, from my property in Churdan, under the guise of town abatement. I had just paid $7,000 for removal of a older house and I had a number of items on pallets, which the town had cited for removal. I had removed all these items from the property, but on that day the town was still forcing abatement action. The town earlier had inexplicably halted my trash pickup, claiming I had not paid billing, which was on automatic bank deduct. Nevertheless, I had removed everything beyond that contained in the written order. This was confirmed by a deputy visit on Friday prior to abatement. He stated that he had difficulty locating the intended property, as he was looking for a site requiring abatement. This was a 3-acre open site, with three new buildings.
The city was hoping to make a spectacle to drive cleanup compliance of the other residents. They unloaded a large tracked excavator and made a big show of destroying my property. The deputy assisting the sheriff admitted to me on body camera footage it was wrong but that he could not oppose the sheriff, and apologized for their actions.
Mr Williams does not appear to understand he is paid by county residents to protect property, not destroy it. I requested malicious harassment felony charges be filed against the town that day, but Williams falsely said he could not do so, stating that required action by our attorney. Prior to their action, agreed multiple times that the abatement was satisfied and over, and it was indeed malicious harassment. But then he made further false statements about the magistrate giving him phone authorization to take everything I own. I am 70 years old and totally deaf. At the time, I was undergoing treatments for prostate cancer. This was beyond rational belief.
The county attorney states this did not even follow protocol but that he is paid to provide legal protection of county employes so is on “opposite side of the county residents” on such an overreach of authority. This was a criminal act recorded on body camera with multiple witnesses, and no county can allow such rogue law enforcement to act against residents without oversight. Please vote accordingly.
