Mark John Smith passed away peacefully October 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 26, 1970, in Jefferson, he was the beloved son of Ronald Smith Sr. and Patricia Smith. He will be remembered for his love of family, especially his daughters Brittney and Grace.
Mark grew up in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1988. He went on to have a successful 30-year career as an automotive sales manager in Cherokee, where his friendly demeanor and genuine passion for helping customers made him a respected figure in the community.
He was known for going the extra mile to ensure every customer felt valued, satisfied and maintained friendships with many repeat customers for years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and exploring nature while riding his ATV. He took pride and joy in maintaining his property in Sutherland. Mark was also an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Brittney (Nathen) Machovec and Grace Smith; his mother Patricia Smith; brother Ron Jr. (Julie) Smith of Scranton; sister Tracy Bettey of Florida; four grandchildren; nieces: Chaise (Justin) Larson, Carolyn Bettey, Codee (Bert) Madden, Brandi Bettey, Christina (Ben) Jacobson, Rachel (Ryan) Blumberg; many great nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Smith Sr.
Mark was loved by his family, and he will be greatly missed!
Memorials are suggested to the family. Funeral services were held Nov. 2 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson, 515-386-2171.
