Greene County sheriff’s report

Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Sunday, Sept. 27: At 3:28 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 500 block of Bell St in Churdan. At 2:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog in the 300 block of S. Main St in Paton. At 4:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of 330th St in Greenbrier Township.

Saturday, Sept. 26: At 3:16 pm a deputy assisted with getting a dog that was picked up in the 1800 block of Sherwood Ave in Franklin Township to the Community Animal Shelter. At 5:01 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a sick opossum in the 900 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 8:20 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 1600 block of Hwy 4 north of Jefferson. At 11:48 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 1900 block of 210th St in Hardin Township.

Friday, Sept. 25: At 1:49 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 400 block of Bell St in Churdan. At 6:49 pm Joseph Thoma, 45, of Scranton was booked into the jail to serve a sentence for election misconduct- first degree. At 7 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.

Thursday, Oct. 24: At 6:19 am a deputy investigated a vehicle in the ditch on 235th St near Q Ave east of Jefferson. At 1:06 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 3:04 pm a deputy investigated damage to a bridge guard rail on County Rd P-14 near 222nd Ave. It appeared a tractor driver had struck the guard rail and left the scene.

Wednesday, Oct. 23: At 4:57 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 near Orchard Ave east of Jefferson. At 6:13 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of N. 18th St in Grand Junction. At 6:17 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of S. 9th St in Grand Junction. At 7:27 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out in the 1600 block of T Ave in Grant Township.

Tuesday, Oct. 22: At 8:15 am Joshua Blumberg, 28, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and driving while under suspension*. At 8:33 am a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal dumping near 283rd St and Redwood Ave in Franklin Township. At 7:06 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway near 255th St and Quaker Ave in Franklin Township.

Monday, Oct. 21: At 3:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 500 block of Anyer St in Dana. At 4:44 pm a deputy investigated criminal mischief to an election sign on Hwy 144 near 260th St south of Grand Junction. At 5:48 pm a deputy investigated complaint of a dog running at large in the 800 block of Fitzpatrick St in Churdan. At 8:05 pm a deputy investigated a dog found near 315th St and R Ave in Franklin Township. At 8:50 pm a deputy and Paton Fire responded to field fire near 110th St and T Ave in Paton Township.

Sunday, Oct. 20: At 2:32 pm William Breidert, 50, of Glidden was booked into the jail on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device*. At 3:44 pm a deputy investigated a dog complaint in the 500 block of State St in Scranton. At 9:20 pm a deputy investigated a noise complaint in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton.

Saturday, Oct. 19: At 10:01 am a deputy picked up a dog near S. 20th and E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 4:42 pm a deputy, Churdan fire, and Jefferson fire responded to a field fire on 160th St near G Ave in Highland Township. At 8:53 pm a deputy investigated a noise complaint in the 500 block of 3rd St in Rippey.

Friday, Oct. 18: At 1:13 pm the sheriff’s office, Jefferson police department, Guthrie County K-9, and the Stuart K-9 conducted a search of the Greene County High School. One suspected THC vape was located. At 3:03 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on D Ave near 120th St in Cedar Township. At 8:22 pm Jerry Fortmann, 58, of Lanesboro was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense*.

Thursday, Oct. 17: At 4:11 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction. At 2:44 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 5:37 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on 150th St at Hwy 144 in Paton Township. John Jones of Boone struck a railroad crossing arm with a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, causing an estimated $1,000 damage to the crossing arms and an estimated $1,000 damage to the vehicle.

Wednesday, Oct. 16: At 8:25 am Billie Hovick, 50, of Carroll was booked into the jail on a charge of fraudulent practices- first degree*. At 12:48 pm the sheriff investigated a theft in the 400 block of L Ave in Highland Township. At 4:29 pm a deputy investigated a driving complaint on Hwy 30 near 222nd St in Scranton Township. Bryan Woodward, 61, of Palo was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence*. At 6:30 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 400 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction.

Tuesday, Oct. 15: At 4:56 am Dale Spaulding, 56, of Scranton was booked into the jail on a charge of assault*. At 12:28 pm a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Jefferson fire responded to a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 4 near 320th St in Franklin Township. Richie Tague of Coon Rapids was traveling northbound operating a semi tractor with a grain trailer. Timmothy Cummings of Grand Junction was also traveling northbound operating a semi tractor with a grain trailer. Cummings went to pass Tague as Tague turned out in front of Cummings. Both semi tractors were totaled in the accident. One driver was transported with minor injuries. Tague was cited for failure to signal. At 2:22 pm a deputy assisted the Guthrie County sheriff’s office with an arrest in the 600 block of Wood Road, Jamaica.  At 3:45 pm Teresa Rivera, 34, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of criminal mischief- fifth degree*.  At 8:07 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of 5th St in  Rippey.

Monday, Oct. 14: At 8:19 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 200 block of Cartwright St in Rippey. At 4:27 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 1000 block of E. Railroad St in Grand Junction. At 5:37 pm a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer in the 1600 block of S Ave in Grant Township.

Sunday, Oct. 13: At 12:55 am Enrique Pache Co Arita, 31, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of domestic abuse assault and two counts of violation of a no contact order*. At 7:52 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 4 near 210th St north of Jefferson. Scott Meinecke of Sheldon struck a deer with a 2021 GMC Sierra. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

Saturday, Oct. 12: At 5:13 pm a deputy investigated a report of a found handgun near 237th St and Jordan Ave in Jackson Township. The gun was found to be a BB gun.

Friday, Oct. 11: At 10:07 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 100 block of Vine St in Cooper. Several political signs around the county had been damaged. At 5:06 pm a deputy assisted the Guthrie County sheriff’s office with locating a wanted person that fled on foot in Jamaica. At 6:32 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton.

Thursday, Oct. 10: At 6:06 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 190th St near L Ave in Hardin Township. At 3:49 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Fitzpatrick St. in Churdan. Both drivers left the scene and reported the accident later.  At 4:52 pm Julie Eslinger, 42, was booked into the jail for a probation violation*. At 5:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 300 block of S. 14th St in Grand Junction.

Wednesday, Oct. 9: At 12:16 am Cheyenne Vasquez, 27, of Ankeny was booked into the jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia*. At 7:34 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on M Ave near 140th St in Kendrick Township. William Harris of Kanawha lost control of a 2008 Peterbilt semi with a livestock trailer and rolled into the ditch. The livestock was transferred to another semi and trailer. The driver had minor injuries and was not transported. At 5:31 pm a deputy and Grand Junction fire responded to a vehicle fire on 170th St near V Ave in Junction Township. The 1983 Chevrolet grain truck was a total loss. At 7:09 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 200 block of S. 6th St in Grand Junction.

Tuesday, Oct. 8: At 1:36 pm the sheriff investigated an assault that occurred in the 200 block of S. Grimmell Rd in Jefferson.

Monday, Oct. 7: At 11:09 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a dead hawk  in the 1100 block of Orchard Ave in Hardin Township. At 4:46 pm a deputy and the Churdan and Jefferson fire departments responded to a field fire in the 1100 block of 130th St in Highland Township. At 7:45 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 500 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction.

Sunday, Oct. 6: At 2:04 am Roger Ketchum, 36, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*. At 1:28 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1800 block of 160th St in Paton Township. Billy Devilbiss, 40, of Perry was arrested for outstanding Webster County arrest warrants.

Saturday, Oct. 5: At 1:10 am Emily Mauricio, 26, of Coon Rapids was booked into the county jail on a charge of simulated public intoxication*. At 6:40 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. Charles Hale, 40, of Scranton was arrested for public intoxication*. At 7:25 am Francisco Mora, 32, of Perry was booked into the jail on a charge of public intoxication*. At 2:20 pm a deputy, Jefferson police officers, the Jefferson and Grand Junction fire departments and Greene County Ambulance responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of N. Pinet St in Jefferson. The structure was severely damaged. At 10:12 pm a deputy for the third time investigated a domestic assault in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. Joseph Charleston, 54, of Scranton was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault*. At 10:29 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a semi tractor-trailer driver striking a power pole at 310th St and Hwy 4 in Franklin Township.

Friday, Oct. 4: At 7:56 am a deputy removed a dead deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 and J Ave west of Jefferson. At 10:04 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 1800 block of Redwood Ave in Franklin Township. At 10:43 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a domestic assault at the same address in Scranton as the previous day.

Thursday, Oct. 3: At 1:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a domestic assault in Scranton.

Wednesday, Oct. 2: At 7:43 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of S. 15th St in Grand Junction. At 1:53 pm a deputy, Bayard Fire, and Coon Rapids Fire responded to a combine fire on Brentwood Ave near 320th St in Willow Township. At 6:54 pm Jesse Nelson, 38, of Red Oak was booked into the jail on charges of burglary- third degree, theft- fourth degree and theft- fifth degree*. At 7:54 pm Jennifer Holz, 37, of Red Oak was booked into the jail on charges of burglary- third degree, theft- fourth degree, and theft- fifth degree*.

Tuesday, Oct. 1: At 10:18 am a deputy assisted with a cow out on Hwy 30 near Hillcrest Ave west of Jefferson. At 1:38 pm the sheriff, Grand Junction fire, Jefferson fire, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a structure fire at the Luis Dreyfus ethanol plant north of Grand Junction. The fire was contained to ventilation duct work. At 6:11 pm a deputy investigated a burning complaint near Eagle and Madison Sts Grand Junction. The county is under a burn ban until further notice.

*In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
