It was an up-close and personal encounter with the Blank Park Zoo giraffe, Jacoby, for Greene County first grader Gotham Peterson-Ashworth. His experience was one that 110 other first graders from Greene County and Paton-Churdan had: to feed giraffes lettuce leaves, ride the zoo train, have a hot lunch, feed animals in the petting zoo, have an educational session with zoo educators with snakes, turtles, porcupines, and take home souvenirs from their fall day at the zoo sponsored by Beta Tau Delta.
Water for everyone was donated by Home State Bank. Beta members helped chaperone the classes with school teachers and assistants.
Beta Tau Delta uses funds from donations from its annual fund drive of citizens and businesses.
