The Greene County Ram boys cross country team had two medalists at the hot and muggy Panorama Invitational meet Sept. 19. Senior Noah Hinote placed ninth and sophomore Brady Carstensen placed 16th. Coach Jeff Lamoureux described the meet as “very competitive.”
The winning time was 16:58, set by Clarinda senior Kyle Wagoner. Noah Hinote ran the 5K race in 18:45.60. Other Ram places and times were Brady Carstensen, 16th:10.40, 16th; Nick Black, 20:41.30, 42nd; Carter Hinote, 20:47.90, 46th; Jayden Koller, 22:00.70, 61st; Kole Johnson-Peterson, 22:14.40, 64th; and Eli Carstensen, 22:14.70, 65th.
The Rams came in sixth in team scores, with Ogden winning the meet. Team scores were Ogden 66, AC/GC 99, Kuemper Catholic 104, Van Meter 107, Earlham 112, Greene County 169, Clarinda 196, Nodaway Valley 218, Atlantic 220, Panorama 281, Southeast Valley 286, Woodward Academy 286, and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton 329.
Freshman Rylee Mowrer was again the first Ram across the finish line in the girls race. Her time of 25:29.10 put her in 36th place. Other Ram finishes were Ava Jablonksi, 28:34.50, 55th; Evelyn Snyder, 30:48.40, 66th; Leah McCormick, 36:30.40, 77th; and Cora Powers, 37:27.80, 78th.
The winning time for the girls race was 19:13.00 set by sophomore Laura Streck of Van Meter.
Team scores were Van Meter 41; Earlham 62; AC-GC 90; Atlantic 139; Panorama 146; Clarinda 155; Kuemper Catholic 2089; Perry 211; Ogden 218; Exira-EHK 277; Southeast Valley 284; and Greene County 298. This is the first meet this season the Rams have had enough runners for a team score.
