Greene County High School’s “Out of This World” homecoming fun kicks off at the end of this week, with plenty of activities planned leading up to the high school dance on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Those voted to homecoming court will be notified on Thursday evening of their spot, with the court meeting on Friday morning for pictures.
On Sunday, Powderpuff Football will kick off at 1 pm, with 9th vs. 12th grade and 10th vs. 11th grade facing off. Boys volleyball, with teams drafted by the volleyball players, will start at 4 pm.
Dress up days are always a large part of homecoming fun, and students, the community and businesses are all invited to be part of this year’s themed days. Tag Ram Fanatic in your Facebook or Instagram posts, with winners announced during halftime of the football game.
Monday’s dress up day will be Sleeping in the Stars – wear your favorite pajamas. On Tuesday, the theme is Out of this World for America, pull out your most patriotic USA gear. On Wednesday, it’ll be a “Starry Night” where everyone should dress like a star / celebrity. There will be a 2:30 pm pep rally at the elementary school, with the band and cheerleaders, as well as captains of the football, volleyball and cross country teams attending. Also on Wednesday will be a 7 pm Lip Sync Battle and trivia.
On Thursday, the theme is “Space Vacation” – dress like you’ll be traveling for the day. A 7 pm pickleball tournament at the high school will cap off the Thursday activities.
Friday is Ram Spirit day. The parade will leave from the gravel lot at the middle school at 2 pm, followed by a 2:45 pep rally on the courthouse plaza. Coronation will take place at 3 pm.
Friday night, homecoming court candidates will be announced at 6:45 pm ahead of the homecoming football game against Saydel at 7 pm at Linduska Field.
A dance for high school students is planned for Saturday from 8 to 10 pm at the high school gym.
