In Greene County district court Christian Miles Long, 22, of Missouri City, TX, was sentenced March 20 to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to operating without owner’s consent, amended from burglary- third degree motor vehicle. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He was also sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of burglary- third degree, amended from theft- second degree. The prison terms are consecutive, but concurrent to a term Long is now serving in Illinois. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. The fines and surcharges were suspended. He must pay victim restitution, court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs to be determined. A charge in magistrate court against Long on a charge of theft- fifth degree was dismissed with $277.59 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Jason William Sheldahl, 53, of Story City was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine- second offense, amended from possession of methamphetamine- third offense. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for two years. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Sheldahl was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay $73 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A related case in which he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 36, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge of gambling- avoid setoff. (Sentencing: McCarville)
In another case against Andrews in which he was charged with driving while license barred, he was sentenced to 20 days in jail, with credit for time served, consecutive to the above case. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Court costs were $100.
Joy Ann Durham, 48, of Fort Dodge was sentenced to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of burglars tools, amended from burglary- third degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay an amount not to exceed $500 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s. Court costs were not listed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Shawn Richard Knudsen, 32, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- simple, amended from domestic abuse assault- second offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also complete the Iowa domestic abuse program. Knudsen was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse assault surcharge. Court costs were $131.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Connor Laine Groves, 27, of Scranton, arson- second degree, conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony, fraudulent practices greater than $10,000 insurance fraud- presenting false information, criminal mischief- first degree, and possession of marijuana; Any Lee Fell, 40, of Van Meter, possession of methamphetamine; Jesse James Sanders, 22, of Scranton, assault while display dangerous weapon and harassment- first degree, and in another case, arson- second degree, use/possession of explosive material/ destructive device; and Steven Vonzaubuesnig Randall, 60, of Boone possession of methamphetamine and marijuana- third offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Trial dates were set for Nov. 5 in every case.
